High Fashion

I'm a bit of a closet fashion junkie. A closet fashion junkie without much income, that is. Lately, though, it seems that the craft world and the fashion world are interacting intimately. Oh, how happy that makes me!

Case in point, lookee what Jil Sander came out with this winter:

Punchneedle embroidered coats. Whodathought?

Even more exciting, at least to me, is the continuing popularity of the maxi dress. With these I think handmade is definitely the way to go. I mean, the possibilities!

Look at this one, made with Anna Maria Horner's "Good Folks" fabric line. C'est fabuleux, oui?

I'm totally gonna have to make me one. I could get the "Village Market" fabric set and more or less make the dress in the photo. Or I could go thrifting and find myself about four yards (that's a guess at how much it would take) of repurpose-able fabric. Either way, it's less expensive than $100 + for any of these, lovely though they are.
