Yukon Cowl

A normal person would prepare for a photo shoot. Maybe put on some makeup. Wear something other than the most comfortable, but also the most unflattering old coat in the world. Such a person might also have re-blocked the object being showcased, so it was shown to its best advantage.

But I couldn't get myself that put together. It was a long week, and the best I could manage was a red hat (to match my red nose) and the perfunctory use of a hairbrush.

I do love my newest creation, though. This cowl (which I have dubbed the Yukon Cowl) is as warm as a blanket. Garance Dore might liken it to a piece of furniture in that vein, but I'm cool with that.

It's got simple repeating patters of Greek Crosses (a shape as old as 1500 B.C.E., found from Latin America to Mesopotamia, and the foundation of the Red Cross's emblem) and diamonds (inspired by old Pendleton patterns - I'm cool with it if you are currently considering me lagging on this trend).

The cowl, in addition to being warm, is versatile. See? Watch the transformation (and many thanks to Mr. Crafty for taking these photos):

Hey, I think you live in my 'hood! This is on my old daily jogging route. That's crazy! We moved from Ravenswood Manor to Lincoln Square proper a year and a half ago. I once spotted a fat and sassy river otter lounging in the yard of the house in the background of this photo.

Love the oversized cowl -- it looks very cozy.

A river otter! I've never been so lucky!

But, yeah, you've got the right 'hood. I love the view from that bridge.
